What Our Members Are Saying About Curves
The decision to join Curves was one of the best decisions of my life. Not only have I lost lots of weight and many inches, but my outlook on life has changes dramatically. Curves has helped me to change my attitude about diet and exercise. I not only look forward to my workouts at Curves, but I also have so much energy that I bicycle 3-4 times a week and zip through my daily chores. My husband is thrilled that instead of a couch potato, he has a companion who enjoys participating in recreational activities with him. Thanks Marina, Mary, Charlene, and Andrea at Seminole Curves for being outstanding encouragers and good friends. You make fitness fun!
Curves means so much to me. I look forward to finishing my work day and going to Curves. No matter how bad the day has been, I can let go when I get to Curves. I love the fact that I can work as hard as I feel with the individually specialized hydraulic machines. The training is super. I am so fortunate to have Curves conveniently located on the way home. It made it simple to make a health lifestyle change. The work-outs are east to personally adjust to your daily needs. Some days I can't get enough, other days I get through it. But most importantly, I look forward to it either way. The machines and the workout adjust with me.
The most special part of Curves is Susan, the owner. She is an inspiration to me and always has a listening ear and eagerness to help out. You can count on Susan for her smile which makes you feel like a Superstar. Her staff - Jackie, JoAnn, and Diane - is supportive and fun. Although I stared my exercise regimen at the local YMCA, I have found the camaraderie of the other ladies at Curves a constant strength and support. Their encouragement motivates me to come back day to day - not to mention those adorable Curves shirts! There is so much more I can say, but I will simply say that Curves has changed my life.
When I joined Curves at the beginning of this year, I weighed 166 pounds. I came faithfully three (3) times a week to work out, but was not having much success in trimming my weight or inches as I had not changed my eating habits. In fact, I was gaining weight and even increased an inch or two.
In May 2005, I enrolled in the 6 week Curves Weight Management Program. My weight was 171.5 pounds. I elected to go the low carb route. I followed the program diligently. I used the Member Guide shopping lists, kept a log of food eaten, drank my water and continued to work out three times a week. The program gave me direction and guidance in what to eat. By writing down everything I put in my mouth, I was able to stick to the program and succeed. I measured my portions and ate the prescribed foods for the week. I tried some of the recipes in the Member Guide Book (i.e., French Onion Soup, Beef and Vegetable Stew, Tuna Salad, and Creamy Coleslaw.) Even my husband thought that the recipes were pretty good. By the 6th week, I had lost 12 pounds and 11.5 inches. Needless to say, I was quite pleased. At my last weigh-in at the end of June, I had lost an additional 1.5 pounds and 1.25 inches. I also lost a total of 4.5% body fat since May. I still have a way to go, but Curves has put me on the right track.
"In September 2004 I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and osteoporosis. They recommended a low fat diet and exercise and put me on a statin drug that I had to stop taking because of allergies. I now take Zetia for the cholesterol and Fosamax for the osteoporosis. I do "The Zone" diet basically and I started walking every day. In January 2005 my cholesterol was 277. My bad cholesterol was 194. I decided to join Curves. I needed more help to get my cholesterol down. In March my cholesterol was down to 200. Since September I’ve lost approximately 20 pounds. Some before Curves and some after I joined. But the good news is on July 15th at my last check-up my cholesterol is down to 194. The doctor said my bad cholesterol went from 194 to 110. I told her about Curves and how it has made the whole difference in my life. I’m happier and feel more energy and can tackle any problem with more confidence in myself. I am grateful for Nancy, Nicole, Mandy, Jillian and Tricia and all the new friends I’ve made at Curves for helping me keep on track in an easy fun way. Thanks guys!"
"I joined Curves in March 2005. I had recently lost 20 pounds and wanted to tone up the body. My neighbor Marie belongs to Curves in Canada and got me motivated to join here. I have already seen success. In the first month I lost 13 inches and could feel a big difference in my clothes. My husband was so excited for me that he gave me money to buy new clothes for my birthday. He has really noticed the change and compliments me all the time. He has become my motivator. My family and even my doctor noticed the changes. My doctor is pleased that I joined Curves. Not only is it a good workout, it motivates you to keep coming back."
"I love working out at Curves. Even when I’m not up to it, I usually go because I know I will feel better afterwards. I have fibrmyalgia and post shingles. Sometimes I go through bouts where I can hardly move without pain, but I still workout at Curves. I might be moving in slow motion, but at least I’m moving and I know I’m benefiting from it. My doctor says that exercising is the best thing I can do for myself and she sees a great improvement. In 45 minutes time, I get an aerobic workout, muscle strengthening, and stretching. I love it!"
Curves has many benefits for me: The exercise lowered my cholesterol, greatly improved my bone density, gave me muscle and strength and I realized that shedding inches is more important to me than the weight on the scale. This past April, my mother passed away up North. I was very depressed. Being a Curves member, I decided to go workout. It made a world of difference for me. Even in an unfamiliar surrounding they were very supportive. The friendship I have at Curves is tremendous. We exchange ideas on all subjects. We have a great time "sweating" together. I very highly recommend Curves to all women ... of all ages.
Curves truly changed my life, as it could for anyone who looks at how all its attributes may fit into their life. What do we need from a workout center and what do we want? My friends and I went to an introduction to the Curves system of a health program. Although I had never signed up for any type of club, many factors lead me to just try it. My weight was not what I wanted it to be. My doctor had prescribed medicine for my high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pinched nerve, and loss of joy for life. I was looking for an organized physical activity that was also social as an additional great way to meet some new ladies in my area. I needed to try something new and improved, but I did not have too much time to devote to the activity. I had to have a program that would fit into with my family’s schedule. I wanted to do something just for me, just because I wanted to, do something that was for my own good and create a passion for whatever I did. I wanted my husband, family, and friends to see the value of a worthwhile program and encourage me to continue week after week.
Well, yes, I have lost enough pounds for people to notice the loss of quite a few inches. My muscle toned up a lot from the workouts by using the machines. I have sooo much more energy that last throughout the workday, lean muscle and added strength. My pinched nerve never hurts any more and my prescriptions have been significantly reduced or are not needed any more! The money I have saved in medicines alone has paid my membership. Thanks to Curves owner Marina Szing and the staff at the Curves in Seminole, the past two+ years have made fitness a permanent part of my life. I thank them for, not only answering my questions, correcting use of the machines and workouts, helping me learn new research about health related issues, and keeping me motivated. It is not about keeping an eye on my weight and my waist, but helping me to become that butterfly, I am meant to be.
